(TACOS 2015) 2015 Toronto Area Championship Off-Road Series

This will be an 8-round championship (best 6 of 8 spread out over the summer at several different tracks across the GTA. We tried to come up with a set of rules for this series to make the class more competitive and fun for everyone, for both pro racers and regular racers. We will have over $3000 worth of prizes and trophies this year. We wanted to give back to the RC community and to the regular racers who are the bread and butter of this hobby. So we tailored a program that would reward the racers who participate in the series as well, and have prizes exclusively for the regular non-sponsored racers.

Technical rules

Penalties:

We will be enforcing penalties to promote clean and fair racing. If you spin the person in front of you or push him/her into the wall or barrier, we ask that you politely wait for the person to retake back his/her position before you continue otherwise we will enforce a stop and go penalty. If the vehicle was already out of shape and you run into him/her, then this is considered a racing incident and will be at the discretion of the race director, whether the stop and go is applied. Blatant course cutting or purposely ramming another vehicle out of the track is an automatic 10 sec stop and go. Failure to marshal is a 1 lap penalty from the best qualifier. If you have a replacement marshal, please make sure you let us know before the start of the race.

Non-Sponsored driver definition:

In order to keep racing fair and fun, there was a need to separate the point series into 2 groups. The overall series will most likely be won by a sponsored driver, but you just never know. The other group is the average racer who is under a budget with limited or almost no support, and they will have a chance at winning something that can help them out for the following race year.

Our definition of a non-sponsored driver is:

• Not sponsored (discounted pricing) by a RC manufacturer or previously been sponsored by a manufacturer. This includes chassis, motor, ESC, batteries,  radio and tires sponsorship.   Nitro sponsorship is still considered sponsored, except for Nitro Fuel. We deem sponsorship of body wraps, tools, bearing, and  supplies, like shock oil, servos, as a lower tier of support, and not to really impact or affect the performance of the racer or vehicle and will allow it.

• Not sponsored (discounted pricing) by a distributor or supplier either currently or last year (Horizon, Hobbico, HRP, Borgfelt, RC America, etc)

• Not sponsored by a hobby shop or part of a hobby shop race team.

• Not sponsored by a major online store (A-Main, Dialed Hobbiees, HobbyPro USA, HobbyKing, etc.)

*This does not apply to those who have personal discounts at hobby shops for being a long term customer or part of an online super saver or VIP program at Towerhobbies, HobbyKing or other major online retailers. Loyalty discounts or super saver programs are not considered a sponsorship deal.  Any type of discounts from a supplier or manufacturer is considered a sponsorship.
